Happy Birthday Lucy!
So it's my pup's 4th birthday and I'm just overwhelmed with how fast the years go by with her. I just cannot imagine having ever lived without her, or ever living without her in the future.
I have always been a cat person, since I was very small I've always loved cats. But that changed once I met Lucy (I still love cats, but I've become a dog person). One night, while I was in the Haight district in San Francisco... living my "homeless experience", a Street Kid brought Lucy to me and said that she was for me... sure enough she was... Lucy and I immediately clicked. We were meant for one another.
Since she was just 4 months old she was the mellowest puppy I had ever seen... ready to play when it was time to play, but just as happy to mellow out and "kick it" when everyone else was tired.
Lucy was abused when I got her, which is why the kid had gotten her for me. She was so scared of everything the first year... yet little by little, with a lot of love, she calmed down. She still startles easily, and she still barks at people she doesn't know well... but you can tell she's adjusted and that she's a happy dog.
Lucy has been there for me these past 4 years, she has been by my side through laughter and tears. She has kept me sane when it seemed that my whole world was falling down. She has loved me and let me hug her when I needed it (She hates hugs). She's been my best friend ever since I got her. I am so thankful to have such a wonderful addition to my life. And although sometimes I'm not all there for her she accepts me for who I am. I do my best to treat her right and I hope that she knows how much I love her. (Even if I do feed her too much, says the vet).
Here's a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my greatest companion.
