Snakies!
I've been having a lot of encounters with snakes lately...
We live up in the mountain and to reach our house you have to drive through a long strip of small roads and dirt roads. The animals love it there and we're lucky enough to be able to watch wildlife all the time.
Since it's been pretty warm lately the snakes are coming out and lazing around on the asphalt which is quite dangerous for them.
The first time I saw one he was stretched the whole width of the road. I stopped since I saw him well ahead of time and walked over to say hi and send him on his way. He was really calm and just moved to the side of the road after I touched his side. I then proceeded to drive on and that was the end of the incident.
However, yesterday I was driving home, and right at a bend of the road was a snake crossing the street. I didn't stop in time to avoid going over him, so I quickly parked the car and walked back to make sure he was ok. He seemed fine but wasn't moving much so I kinda lifted up his tail to make sure I hadn't knocked him unconscious. The snake then proceeds to wrap his tail around my wrist, pee all over it, and hightail it out of the road to the woods. Not any normal kind of behavior for a snake. I swear he was just pissed at me for having scared him
Now I don't know if any of you have experienced it, but snake pee STINKS to high hell... you guys should have seen my dog's face when I got home, she was happy to see me, but so put off by the smell that she wouldn't say hi. I thought it was funny... until I tried washing the smell off. Yeah that took quite a while. Kinda like trying to wash scented oil off
So those are my crazy stories with snakes lately.
Luckily they're only California King Snakes and not rattlers !
